Uncle Tetsu is an asian bakery in Costa Mesa, California. It is listed at 3033 Bristol St Ste 116, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, which places it among the local businesses of Costa Mesa that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

Bubble tea, tea houses, Asian bakeries and dessert shops in this group are usually walk-in, counter-order businesses with a menu board overhead listing sweetness and ice levels you can adjust when ordering. Standard bubble tea customization includes sugar level (0-100%), ice level, and a choice of toppings like boba pearls, pudding or jelly, usually at a small extra charge. Asian bakeries sell items individually with tongs and a tray, cafeteria-style, rather than pre-boxed, and pastries are typically less sweet than Western bakery items. Lines build up quickly after school and in the evening, especially near colleges. Most of these businesses accept cards and mobile pay and skew younger in clientele and atmosphere.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 10 am–8 pm. We stopped in on a recent vacation to California. Growing up in Okinawa, I hadn't had Japanese cheesecake in over a decade. I appreciated the quick service and the cheesecake hit just the right spot. I appreciate that they are not overly sweet like many other places I have tried. We got a stamp card from them too which was pretty cool. I even got a cake as a gift and it traveled well back on a plane. I will definitely be back when we visit again!

The egg tarts and cookies were great, but the service from the manager wearing the black shirt, glasses and the ring necklace around her neck was pretty abysmal. I walked in and she barely looked up. I had simple questions about the menu and she answered them very dismissively like I was bothering her on being there. If I am Uncle Tetsu corporate or the franchisee owner, I would get a different manager for this location. The other worker who is making the food behind the counter was a great help and super nice. Because of the managers actions I would not be back to this location.

Tried Uncle Tetsu’s cheesecake and it absolutely lives up to the hype! Light, fluffy, and perfectly balanced β€” not overly sweet, which lets the rich cheese flavor shine through. It melts in your mouth and feels more like a cloud than a cake. A must-try for anyone who loves Japanese-style desserts.

I finally tried Uncle Tetsu’s famous Japanese cheesecake, and it absolutely lives up to its reputation. The cake was incredibly light, fluffy, and had the perfect jiggle – almost like a soufflΓ©! The subtle sweetness and creamy texture made it addictive without being heavy. The classic original flavor was my favorite, but others were delightful too. The staff were friendly, and watching the cakes being freshly baked added to the experience. While there’s often a line, the wait was reasonable (about 15 minutes), and the warm cake straight from the oven made it worthwhile. A few notes: βœ” Best served warm– Eat it fresh for maximum melt-in-your-mouth magic. βœ” Sharing size - One cake easily serves 2-3 people.

This location is in a plaza across Mitsuwa market and is close to many other Japanese restaurants. I usually stop by here for dessert if I want something not too sweet. I Love their different varieties of cheesecakes! The details on their Oreo flavored cheesecake are so cute. They also have tarts and other desserts depending on the week. I ordered their Oreo cake for a birthday and they loved it.
